About Internationl Sensors and Controls

Shortly After WWII, Durakool of New York, Inc. began operations in the Bronx, New York as the exclusive distributor of Durakool Mercury Displacement Relays for the New York metropolitan area.

Originally manufactured in Elkhart, Indiana on the grounds of an old family farm, these relays provided reliable switching solutions to a bourgeoning manufacturing economy.

Founded on the principles of quality, service and integrity, Durakool of New York, Inc. quickly built a reputation for consistent customer satisfaction. Our customers clamored for more products and so Durakool of New York, Inc. became Dony Technical Sales, Inc. While the Durakool line remained the cornerstone of our business, we began to add more quality products to our mix. From component products such as printed circuit boards and transformers to sheet metal fabrication, we continued to flourish by listening to the customer and satisfying their needs.

By 1980, we were ready to take a big step toward reducing costs by moving production of some products to the Pacific Rim. Communicating via an old Westinghouse telex machine, we began to save customers thousands of dollars by keeping ahead of prevailing trends in manufacturing.

Over the next twenty years, we continued to tweak our product mix and manufacturing capabilities to meet the increasingly complex needs of the marketplace. As we stood on the threshold of the new millennium and reviewed our operations and looked to the future with all its opportunity, we decided to change our name to better reflect our global presence and evolving product mix.

Today, International Sensors & Controls, Inc., headquartered along the banks of the Pootatuck River in picturesque Sandy Hook, CT., is a trusted supplier to customers on every continent of the globe. From basic component products to custom sensor assemblies, solid state relay designs and complete contract manufacturing, we have the resources necessary to meet your needs. And yes, we still have Durakool mercury displacement relays.

Our name has changed, but our customer-oriented philosophy is just as steadfast today as it was over fifty years ago. We do whatever it takes to satisfy our customers.

As this brief history shows, we are here to stay. We look to form long-term relationships with our customers. We could not have lasted all these years just by looking to make the quick buck. We value the reputation our long history has cultivated and look forward to preserving that standard for many years to come.
